Icelandic Waterfalls - Baejerfoss

Posted by Photosanity (Folsom, United States) on 23 April 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

In the Westfjords of Iceland there is a magical place called Dynjandi. It consists of 7 waterfalls all uniquely named, the topmost being the namesake of the place.

Each waterfall cuts through a layer of basalt that make up the Icelandic landscape here, and each waterfall has its own unique look and feel depending on how tall the layer was and how long the water has to travel across the plateau above before it drops down the next falls.

I never made it to the Dynjandi waterfall as I was enthralled with the lowermost few and only made it up 4 levels before we had to leave. I guess I will have to go back and visit again to see the rest of them. Baejerfoss is the lowest one and a beautiful start to a most picturesque place. It may be a little out of the way to get there but well worth it if you have the time.

This photo was taken in 2001 on slide film and scanned in for digital viewing, apologies for not having the capture info.

I am trying to play catch up on viewing your blogs. I have probably another night before I will be caught up. I still have a lot of work and tight timelines to meet for my job, so it might take me a while to respond to your comments or totally catch up with my watches. Please keep the comments coming though, I cherish every one. I will catch up on your blog posts as quickly as I can. Have fun shooting while I work :-).
