Rose the Grizzly

One of my favorite photo shoots are wildlife model shoots. These animals are habituated to humans so you can get closer to them than you might in the wild. It is a great training ground for amateurs like me who want to learn how to photograph wildlife should they have the privilege to see them in the wild.

This is Rose, a 2 year old Grizzly, from the Triple D Game Farm (www.tripledgamefarm.com). She is definitely still a child who is totally bonded to her “parent” Logan, her trainer. She runs to him like a child would a parent to check to make sure he is still there and then happily runs off to romp some more. A well loved and happy girl!

I had tried on numerous occasions to get a decent photograph of her with little success (I am still learning the techniques of wildlife photography!). It was a crisp morning and for the first few minutes Rose ran around like crazy just having fun but so fast I couldn’t get a good enough shutter speed to stop her motion. Then finally she slowed down and I was able to capture her in a natural pose and setting. I smile every time I look at this photo remembering how happy she was that morning.

I am trying to play catch up on viewing your blogs. I have probably another night before I will be caught up. I still have a lot of work and tight timelines to meet for my job, so it might take me a while to respond to your comments or totally catch up with my watches. Please keep the comments coming though, I cherish every one. I will catch up on your blog posts as quickly as I can. Have fun shooting while I work :-).
